Mixed Threads by Vyacheslav 'Yura' Useinov September 30, 2015 at 7pm in Alif Art Gallery Exhibition will run until November 20, 2015 Alif Gallery, Dubai, is pleased to present an exhibition of work by Vyacheslav Useinov, artist well-known in his native Uzbekistan, where he works across a range of media and techniques, including photography, painting, sculpture and installation.
'Mixed Threads' exhibition is an overview of his mature practice and favors the under - recognized genre of textile art. This exhibition takes place at a time of a tapestry renaissance, when textile art is been given more attention by collectors and investors. Useinov is one of the current crop of artists who are using the medium to great effect. His versatility allows him to work in different textile techniques such as tapestry, Chinese chi and quilting, often incorporating traditional embroidery, carpet and architectural ornaments into his textile artworks. His textile artworks blur the boundary between fine art and craft, representing a hybrid of rich cultural traditions of Central Asia.
